The 22nd ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs will travel to Coleman Coliseum to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The 22nd ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs improved to 15-4 (3-3 SEC) on the season after defeating the 16th ranked Auburn Tigers, 92-84, this past Saturday. Mississippi State was outstanding on the offensive end against the Tigers and was able to pull away after a 20-5 Bulldogs run gave Mississippi State a 90-75 lead with 2:45 left in regulation. Mississippi State shot 50.9% from the field and won the turnover battle by a 19-13 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Quinndary Weatherspoon who had 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

On the season, Mississippi State is averaging 78.4 ppg on 47.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 37.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Mississippi State has been led by Quinndary Weatherspoon (17.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.3 spg), Lamar Peters (13.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 5.9 apg, 1.3 spg), Aric Holman (11.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.1 spg, 2.3 bpg), and Nick Weatherspoon (10.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Mississippi State is allowing their opponents to average 69.4 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The Alabama Crimson Tide dropped to 12-7 (3-3 SEC) on the season after being defeated by the Baylor Bears, 73-68, this past Saturday. In a tight back and for game, Alabama couldn’t fight back after a 6-0 Baylor gave the Bears a 67-61 lead with 2:01 left in regulation. Alabama shot 50.9% from the field and 29.4% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Crimson Tide was Kira Lewis Jr. who had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

On the season, Alabama is averaging 75.5 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Crimson Tide are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Alabama has been led by Kira Lewis Jr. (13.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.8 apg), John Petty (11.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.7 apg), Donta Hall (11.3 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.1 bpg), and Dazon Ingram (7.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 apg).

Defensively, Alabama is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Crimson Tide have a rebound margin of 6.2 and a turnover margin of -1.0.

The Bulldogs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games. The Crimson Tide are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Mississippi State has won 3 of their last 4 games and come into this game ranked 59th in scoring offense, 56th in FG%, and T-122nd in scoring defense. Alabama has lost 4 of their last 6 games and currently rank 126th in scoring offense, T-176th in scoring defense, and 28th in rebound margin.

Alabama has had trouble picking up wins as of late, however, they did knock of Kentucky recently at home and gave two very good teams in Tennessee & Baylor tough games on the road. Mississippi State is a solid team, however, Alabama has a solid 7-2 record at home this season and as they should have an advantage on the boards, I’m taking the Crimson Tide to cover this small home spread.

Pick:
Alabama Crimson Tide -2
