Alcorn State Braves +6.5 O/U: 127
The Grambling State Tigers and the Alcorn State Braves will match up on the college basketball circuit Monday.
Grambling State is currently sitting at 12-11 on the year. The Tigers are riding a three-game win streak at the moment, dispatching AR-Pine Bluff, MS Valley and Southern U in that stretch.
In the win over the Jaguars, Grambling State’s top contributor was Ivy Smith on 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Also in double-figures for the Tigers there was Devante Jackson with 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Alcorn State side, they’re 8-14 this year. Following consecutive losses to ASU and Alabama A&M, the Braves have gotten wins over Southern U and Jackson State in their last two outings.
In the win over the Tigers, Alcorn State’s Maurice Howard led the team on 15 points with five assists and three rebounds. Troymain Crosby doubled up for the Braves there with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Devon Brewer added 12 points and eight boards.
Alcorn State is 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up win. The over is 4-1 in the Braves’ last five overall and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
Meanwhile, the under is 7-3 in the Tigers’ last 10 overall and they’re 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. Grambling State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus a team with a losing straight-up record.
Grambling State hasn’t exactly faced primo competition during this three-game win streak, but they’re getting the job done with big victories. Alcorn State isn’t super-impressive in the win/loss columns either, but with two home victories in the last pair, the Braves will come in here with some confidence.
This one may end up being a reasonably close game most of the way, and I’m probably going to stick with Alcorn to manage a home cover here.
