American Eagles -8 O/U: 136
The Navy Midshipmen and the American Eagles will match up in college basketball’s Patriot League Tournament on Thursday.
Navy enters this one at 11-18 on the year. After consecutive losses to Loyola MD and Colgate, the Midshipmen have won their last pair versus Bucknell and Boston U.
In the win over the Terriers, Navy’s top scorers were Evan Wieck and John Carter, each with 15 points and a combined nine rebounds. George Kiernan put up 11 points for the Midshipmen in that one as well, and Cam Davis notched 10 points.
Over on the American side, they’re 15-14 this season. The Eagles are also 2-2 in their last four games, falling to Lafayette and Lehigh with wins over Army and Holy Cross during that stretch.
In the win over the Crusaders, American’s top scorer was Sa’eed Nelson on 21 points with eight rebonds and seven assists. Sam Iorio added 17 points and five boards for the Eagles in that one and Jacob Boonyasith had 19 points.
The Midshipmen are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 after a straight-up win and 2-5 ATS in the last seven after and ATS win. Navy is 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and the over is 5-1 in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. American is 2-6 ATS in their last eight versus the Patriot League and the over is 6-2 in the last eight overall.
Navy did a good job thwarting a pesky Terriers team at home, and the 79 points they scored was tied for the Midshipmen’s highest since January 16.
With that in mind, I’m leaning toward the Eagles here due mostly to their superior offensive abilities. I expect this game to be close, but I think American will get some revenge for that February 6 loss and cover here.
