Appalachian State Mountaineers -5.5 O/U: 148
The Texas-Arlington Mavericks and the Appalachian State Mountaineers will meet up in college basketball action on Thursday.
Texas-Arlington limps into this one at 4-11 overall on the season. The Mavericks took out Cal Poly on December 21, but since have dropped games to Texas, Georgia State and Georgia Southern.
In the loss to the Eagles, UT-Arlington’s lead scorer was Edric Dennis, with 16 points, four rebounds and one assist. Also in double-figures for the Mavs were Andres Ibarguen (11 points; six rebounds) and David Azore (10 points).
Over on the Appalachian State side, they’re 5-10 this season. The Mountaineers have fallen in their last three appearances as well, dropping games to Saint Louis, South Alabama and Troy in that span.
In the loss to the Trojans, Appalachian State guard Ronshad Shabazz led the team on 25 points and six rebounds. Justin Forrest and Adrian Delph each scored 18 points for the Mountaineers in that one, alongside a combined seven assists and 10 rebounds.
The Mavericks are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 following an ATS loss and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. UT-Arlington is 5-14 in their last 19 road games and the under is 9-1 in their last 10 road games.
Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 19-41-1 ATS in their last 61 Thursday games and 5-21 ATS in their last 26 following an ATS win. The over is 5-0 in App State’s last five one games and 9-3 in their last 12 overall.
The Cal Poly win was the single outlier in a long stretch of futility recently for Texas-Arlington. The Mavericks just don’t have the scoring to keep up with most teams, and a lot of the final tallies get out of hand.
App State isn’t exactly looking great these days either, but their offense leaves a lot less to be desired. I’m going to stick with the Mountaineers in this one.
