The Oregon State Beavers and the Arizona State Sun Devils meet in Pac-12 conference college basketball action from the Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday night.

The Oregon State Beavers will look to build on their current 4-game winning streak after picking up a 79-66 win over UCLA last time out. Ethan Thompson and Stephen Thompson Jr. each had a team-high 17 points with 6 rebounds and a team-high 6 assists while Tres Tinkle and Kylor Kelley each had 14 points. Kelley shot a perfect 6 of 6 from the floor with 5 blocks while Tinkle had 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Alfred Hollins added 11 points to round out the scoring in double figures for Oregon State in the winning effort. Tinkle leads Oregon State with an average of 20 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Oregon State is averaging 74.3 points per game on 46.9% shooting from the field, 32.5% from behind the arc and 75.3% from the foul line this season.

The Arizona State Sun Devils come into this game looking to find some consistency after splitting their last 10 games following an 85-71 loss to Stanford last time out. Luguentz Dort led the Sun Devils with 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 3 threes while Rob Edwards added 13 points with 3 triples and Kimani Lawrence added 10 points with 6 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Arizona State in the losing effort. Zylan Cheatham added 8 points with team-highs of 12 rebounds and 4 assists as well in the loss for ASU. Dort leads the Sun Devils in scoring with 17.1 points per game while Cheatham leads Arizona State in rebounding with 9.4 rebounds per game and Remy Martin leads Arizona State in assists with 4.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Arizona State is averaging 79.8 points per game on 44.3% shooting from the field, 33.7% from behind the arc and 66.4% from the foul line this season.

Oregon State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 16-5-1 in their last 22 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Arizona State is 6-15-3 ATS in their last 24 games against a team with a winning record and 6-16-2 ATS in their last 24 conference games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 home games against a team with a winning road record. The home team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

I can understand why the Sun Devils would be a favorite here, as the home team has had a lot of success in this matchup, and Arizona State is the better offensive team this season. However, the Sun Devils have also struggled with consistency as of late while the Beavers are playing some of their best basketball of the season, winning games over UCLA, USC and Oregon to start conference play. I’ve said early on that I’m liking what I’m seeing from Oregon State, and the Beavers look like a serious contender for an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament at the very least if they can keep this play up, so I’ll take a shot with Oregon State and the points here.

Pick:
Oregon State +5.5
