Arkansas State Red Wolves -3 O/U: 157.5
The Appalachian State Mountaineers and the Arkansas State Red Wolves will meet up in college basketball activity on Thursday.
Appalachian State tumbles into this one on a 5-13 record. The Mountaineers are currently on a six-game losing streak, falling to St. Louis, South Alabama, Troy, TX-Arlington, Texas State and Coastal Carolina.
In the loss to the Chanticleers, App State’s Justin Forrest was the only player on the team in double-figures with 21 points, four assists and one rebound. Isaac Johnson was close to doubling up for the Mountaineers with nine points and 11 assists there.
Over on the Arkansas State side, they’re 8-11 this season. The Red Wolves have dropped their last three straight games against Troy, TX-Arlington and Texas State.
In the loss to the Bobcats, Arkansas State was led by Ty Cockfield’s 21 points, four assists and two rebounds. The only other Red Wolves player in double-figures there was Marquis Eaton on 12 points and two rebounds.
The Mountaineers are 19-42-1 ATS in their last 62 Thursday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. App State is 0-4 ATS in their last four versus a team with a losing straight-up record and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Red Wolves are 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five overall. Arkansas State is 0-5 ATS in their last five versus the Sun Belt and the over is 21-8 in their last 29 versus the Sun Belt.
Well, there’s not much to get excited about when you look at the Mountaineers’ recent record, but they’ve been scoring okay. App State has put up at least 72 points in four of the last five outings (69 in the other).
Given that the Wolves have logged just 59 and 64 points respectively in their last two, I don’t think it’s crazy to take Appalachian State on the cover here.
