The Line: Arkansas Razorbacks -8.5 -- Over/Under: 151.5
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Arkansas Razorbacks meet in college basketball action from Bud Walton Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will look to get back above .500 after falling back to 4-4 with an 84-78 loss to Missouri State in their last outing. Taveion Hollingsworth led Western Kentucky with 24 points on 9 of 15 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 4 assists while Charles Bassey added 17 points with 10 rebounds, a pair of steals and a pair of blocks. Josh Anderson added 12 points and a pair of steals while DeSean Murray chipped in 10 points to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for the Hilltoppers in the losing effort. Hollingsworth leads Western Kentucky with an average of 17.2 points and 2.4 assists per game while Bassey leads the Hilltoppers in rebounding with 9.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Western Kentucky is averaging 71.1 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the field, 36.3% from behind the arc and 70.7% from the foul line this season.
The Arkansas Razorbacks will look to build on their current 6-game winning streak after a 98-74 win over Colorado State in their last outing. Mason Jones led the Hogs with 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 4 threes while Isaiah Joe added 14 points with 4 threes of his own. Keyshawn Embry added 14 points on 5 of 6 shooting with 4 threes while Daniel Gafford added 12 points with a team-high 9 rebounds and Adrio Bailey chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds to finish off the scoring in double figures for Arkansas in the win. Jalen Harris added 8 points with 6 rebounds and team-highs of 12 assists and 4 steals as well in the victory. Gafford leads Arkansas with an average of 18.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while Harris leads the Razorbacks in assists with 7.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Arkansas is averaging 87.4 points per game on 48.5% shooting from the field, 36.7% from behind the arc and 63.2% from the foul line this season.
Western Kentucky is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 non-conference games. Arkansas is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against C-USA.
The Hilltoppers definitely have some solid talent on their side with the likes of Bassey and Hollingsworth, but I’m not sure that Western Kentucky has enough to overcome their recent shortcomings ATS. Sure, Western Kentucky has been in some close games on the road this season, but you could argue that Arkansas is the toughest test that the Hilltoppers have had away from home this season. Arkansas’ margin of victory at home this season is 19.2 points per game and I think that’s enough for me to lay the points with the Razorbacks in this game.
