The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers meet in SEC college basketball action from the Auburn Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will look to add to their current 5-game winning streak after a 68-49 win over Missouri in their last outing. Tyson Carter led the Bulldogs with 22 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 4 threes while Quinndary Weatherspoon added 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting with 3 threes and Reggie Perry chipped in 15 points with a team-high 9 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Mississippi State in the winning effort. Lamar Peters dished out a team-high 5 assists and recorded a whopping 6 steals while Abdul Ado led the Bulldogs with 5 blocks. Weatherspoon leads Mississippi State in scoring with 18.6 points per game while Perry leads the Bulldogs in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds per game and Peters leads Mississippi State in assists with 5.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Mississippi State is averaging 77.7 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field, 37.6% from behind the arc and 73.1% from the foul line this season.

The Auburn Tigers will look to find some consistency after splitting their last 6 games following a 78-75 win over Georgia in their last outing. Jared Harper led the Tigers with 22 points on 7 of 15 shooting with 5 threes and a team-high 5 assists while Chuma Okeke had 13 points with a team-high 6 rebounds and a pair of blocks and Horace Spencer chipped in 10 points to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Auburn in the win. Samir Doughty had 7 points with 4 assists and a pair of steals as well in the victory for the Tigers. Bryce Brown was held to 9 points but still leads Auburn in scoring with 15.7 points per game while Okeke leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game and Harper leads Auburn in assists with 5.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Auburn is averaging 80.4 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field, 37.5% from behind the arc and 69.4% from the foul line this season.

Mississippi State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. Auburn is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. Mississippi State is 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at Auburn.

I really wanted to take Auburn at home here, as there’s a slight revenge factor after Mississippi State beat Auburn already earlier this season, and the fact that Auburn is outscoring their opponents by 21.6 points per game at home this season. However, against the top-5 teams in the SEC this season, which includes the likes of these same Mississippi State Bulldogs (Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU as well), Auburn has gone 0-6 SU, losing by an average of 10.3 points per game over those games. I’m not saying Mississippi State wins outright to add to Auburn’s Misery, but Mississippi State has the scoring depth to keep up with Auburn here, so I’ll take a shot with the Bulldogs and the points in this one

Mississippi State +5
