The Ole Miss Rebels and the Auburn Tigers meet in SEC college basketball action from Auburn Arena on Wednesday night.
The Ole Miss Rebels will look to build on back-to-back wins after an 80-64 win over Georgia in their last outing. Devontae Shuler added 8 points and 7 rebounds while Bruce Stevens had 6 points and a team-high 9 rebounds as well in the winning effort. Tyree leads Ole Miss in scoring with an average of 18.5 points per game while Davis leads the Rebels with 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 77.9 points per game on 47.3% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the arc and 77% from the foul line this season.
The Auburn Tigers will look to bounce back after having their 3-game winning streak snapped with an 83-78 loss to LSU last time out. Jared Harper led the Tigers with 25 points on 7 of 11 shooting with 5 threes, along with 6 rebounds and a team-high 7 assists. Chuma Okeke added 12 points with a game-high 14 rebounds while Anfernee McLemore and Bryce Brown each had 11 points to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Auburn in the losing effort. Brown leads Auburn in scoring with 16.7 points per game while Okeke leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds per game and Harper leads Auburn in assists with 6.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Auburn is averaging 83.6 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 37.7% from the 3-point line and 69.4% from the foul line this season.
Ole Miss is 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and 18-6 ATS in their last 24 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games. Auburn is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall. Ole Miss is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I can perfectly understand Auburn being favored at home as the Tigers have stepped up their play lately and a loss to LSU is nothing to be ashamed of. However, the Rebels still continue to be an extremely profitable team this season, both overall and on the road and have had the bulk of the success in this matchup in recent years. Auburn has gotten into a groove lately, but I just think this is too many points to be giving up, so I’ll side with Ole Miss and the points in this one.
