Austin Peay Governors -13.5 O/U: 153.5
The SIU Edwardsville Cougars and the Austin Peay Governors will meet up on the college basketball court Thursday.
SIU Edwardsville enters this one with an 8-14 mark on the year. The Cougars have won three of their last four games, dropping to TN-Martin and toppling SEMO, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky in that stretch.
In the 2OT win over the Colonels, SIU Edwardsville’s lead scorer was Tyresse Williford, with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists. Brandon Jackson added 25 points and nine boards for the Cougars in that one, and Anselm Uzuegbunem posted 13 rebounds.
Over on the Austin Peay side, they’re 16-7 this season. The Governors have won three of their last four as well, falling to Belmont and beating Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and JSU during that time.
In the win over the Gamecocks, Austin Peay’s Terry Taylor led the charge on 30 points and six rebounds. Steve Harris and Jabari McGhee each logged 13 points for the Governors in that one, with a combined eight rebounds and four assists.
SIUE is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the OVC. The Cougars are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Governors are 8-0 ATS in their last eight Thursday games and 6-1 ATS in the last seven home games. Austin Peay is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the OVC.
Since the middle of last month or so, the Cougars have been scoring pretty well. In five of their last six games, SIUE has logged at least 71 points, with 69 in the outlier against TN-Martin.
Trouble is, Austin Peay has been scoring even better than that, with at least 74 points in each of their last six games. The Governors shouldn’t have any trouble putting up points here, but the line is just thick enough that I think SIUE can eke in there.
