The Akron Zips battle the Ball State Cardinals in MAC college basketball action on Saturday.

The Akron Zips look to shake off a 76-70 defeat to visiting Buffalo on Tuesday night as an eight point home underdog.

Akron gave the first place Bulls a run for their money but their 14thranked defense couldn’t get enough stops to pull the upset.

Loren Christian Jackson paced the Zips upset bid with 20 points while Tyler Cheese added another 16 points and six rebounds.

Daniel Utomi gave Akron 14 points 14 points and five pulls followed by Jimond Ivey with 12 points, seven boards and four assists.

The Ball State Cardinals are eyeing a third straight win after downing Western Michigan 79-59 as 12 point home favorite.

Ball State has underachieved to this point but their high scoring offense had no problem scoring and the defensive end of the floor was even better.

Kyle Mallers topped the Cardinals offense with 22 points and ten rebounds with Tayler Persons adding 15 points, three yanks and five helpers.

Ball State saw KJ Walton and Brachen Hazen toss in eleven points apiece followed by Tahjal Teague with seven points and seven boards.
