We have some MAC-tion on Saturday afternoon as the Toledo Rockets visit the Ball State Cardinals in a college basketball matchup.
The Toledo Rockets will be looking to add to their current 4 game winning streak after taking down Ohio by a final sore of 82-74. Jaelan Sanford led the Rockets with 21 points on 6 of 9 shooting with a pair of threes and a 7 of 8 mark from the foul line. Tre’Shaun Fletcher came 2nd with 17 points along with a team-high 8 rebounds while Nate Navigato added 15 points with 3 triples and a team-high 4 assists to round out the trio of double digit scorers for the Rockets in the win. Fletcher leads Toledo with an average of 18.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Toledo is scoring 80 points per game on 47% shooting from the field, 40.1% from behind the arc and 74.1% from the foul line this season.
The Ball State Cardinals will also look to keep their own momentum going after winning 3 straight and 5 of their last 6 games, including a 90-77 win over Akron last time out. Trey Moses led Ball State with 22 points on 9 of 11 shooting with 11 rebounds for the double-double while Tahjai Teague came 2nd with 21 points on 6 of 8 shooting with a 9 of 12 mark from the foul line along with 10 rebounds and a pair of steals for a double-double of his own. Tayler Persons chipped in 18 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 4 assists to round out the trio of double digit scorers for the Cardinals in the winning effort. Persons leads Ball State with an average of 14.7 points and 4.4 assists per game while Moses leads the Cardinals in rebounding with 8.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Ball State is scoring 75.6 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 33.9% from behind the arc and 71.7% from the foul line this season.
Toledo is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 16-7 in their last 23 conference matchups. Ball State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games following a win. Toledo is 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 5-11 ATS in the last 16 meetings at Ball State.
Both of these teams come into this one hot, and I think this game could be the game of the day out of the MAC. However with that said, Toledo has been solid on the road this season, and while the game is only a pick ‘em, which would favor Ball State who are 12-1 SU this season at home, I think the Rockets are the pick given their success on the road this season.
