The Toledo Rockets will travel to Worthen Arena to take on the Ball State Cardinals this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Toledo Rockets snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 21-6 (9-5 MAC) on the season after defeating the Northern Illinois Huskies, 57-54, this past Saturday. Toledo trailed by a 48-40 margin with just 7:34 left in regulation, however, was outstanding defensively the rest of the way and took the lead for good after a Luke Knapke lay-up with 3:20 left in regulation gave the Rockets a 52-50 lead. Toledo held Northern Illinois to just 36.4% shooting from the field and 38.1% shooting from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Rockets was Nate Navigato who had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and a steal.

On the season, Toledo is averaging 77.7 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Rockets are averaging 9.6 three-pointers per game on 36.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Toledo has been led by Jaelan Sanford (15.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.1 apg), Nate Navigato (12.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.7 apg), Marreon Jackson (11.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.4 spg), and Luke Knapke (10.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, Toledo is holding their opponents to an average of 68.3 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field. The Rockets have a rebound margin of 4.7 and a turnover margin of -1.1.

The Ball State Cardinals lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 14-13 (5-9 MAC) on the season after being defeated by the Central Michigan Chippewas, 64-57, this past Saturday. Ball State led by a 34-23 margin at halftime, however, struggled offensively in the 2nd half and couldn’t fight back after an 11-0 run by the Chippewas gave Central Michigan a 60-55 lead with 1:29 left in regulation. Ball State shot just 17.6% from beyond the arc and committed 21 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Tahjai Teague who had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.

On the season, Ball State is averaging 77.1 ppg on 47.2% shooting from the field. The Cardinals are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Ball State has been led by Tayler Persons (16.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.2 spg), K.J. Walton (13.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.4 spg), Tahjai Teague (13.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.0 bpg), and Trey Moses (8.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 bpg).

Defensively, Ball State is allowing their opponents to average 72.2 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Cardinals have a rebound margin of 3.0 and a turnover margin of -1.3.

The Rockets are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up win, however, are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss. The Cardinals are 18-38-1 ATS in their last 27 home games and just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall.

Toledo has won 7 of their last 10 games and currently rank 65th in scoring offense, T-91st in scoring defense, and 30th in defensive FG%.

Ball State has lost 6 of their last 10 games and currently rank 73rd in scoring offense, 50th in FG%, and 203rd in scoring defense.

Ball State has had a disappointing season when you look at their overall record, however, this is a team that has a lot of talent on it and has picked a few big wins this season, including an impressive 79-64 victory at Toledo earlier this season. Toledo has been solid all season, however, the Rockets have struggled a bit lately, including a 76-69 loss on the road recent to Eastern Michigan and as I think the Tayler Persons and company will be able to find some success on the offensive end at home against Toledo, I’m taking Ball State and the point in this one. Good Luck!

Pick:
Ball State Cardinals +1
