Central Arkansas travels to Waco, TX to play the host Baylor Bears. Central Arkansas finished last year with a record of (14-19). Baylor enters this season ranked 16th to start the season. Baylor made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament last year, before falling to Gonzaga 83-71. Baylor finished the season with a record of (20-14).
Central Arkansas was picked to finish 5th this season in the Southland Conference, 2 spots up from where the Bears finished a season ago. DeAndre Jones and Hayden Koval were named to the preseason conference second team. Central Arkansas has a tough schedule in non-conference play. Besides Baylor, UCA will also face Georgetown, Duke, Wichita State, Utah, and Marquette. All of those games will be on the road. UCA will be on the road for 7 of the first 9 games. The 2 home games are against Hendrix College and Little Rock. UCA is coached by Russ Pennell.
Baylor was slotted to finish 2nd in this year's Big 12 preseason standings, behind Kansas. Baylor returns most of its players from a team that was able to get to the 20 win mark. Tristan Clark, a forward for the Bears, was an all-Big 12 selection going into the season. Baylor Coach Scott Drew will be hoping the squad will get off to an easy win over UCA. Baylor's second game will be more of a challenge, that opponent is Washington.

UCA is 6-2 ATS in their las 8 non-conference games.
UCA is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
The under is 8-2 in UCA's last 10 non-conference games.
Baylor are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Baylor are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.
The under is 4-0 in Baylor's last 4 vs. the Southland.
This is a Baylor squad that returns most of the team from a year ago. This is the same team, that struggled to blow out smaller schools a year ago. Baylor lost to Texas Southern to open the season last year and also had close games to Prairie View A&M and South Dakota. UCA returns 4 of their top 5 scorers from a year ago and will be ready to build off of last season. While I do think Baylor will be good this season, this looks like a spot where a smaller division 1 school can come in and compete. UCA will be ready to go since it is a bigger environment, while Baylor I think get's off to a slow start. In the end, Baylor will put together a big second half. Final score prediction, Baylor will win but UCA covers, 90-68.
