The Eastern Kentucky Colonels lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 7-9 (0-3 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Tennessee State Tigers, 82-81, this past Thursday. In a tight back and forth game in the 2nd half, Eastern Kentucky fell just short of the victory after Nick Mayo couldn’t get his game-winning jumper to fall as time expired. Eastern Kentucky shot 50.9% from the field and outrebounded Tennessee State by a 39-27 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Colonels was Nick Mayo who had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks.

The Belmont Bruins won their 2nd straight game and improved to 11-3 (2-1 OVC) on the season after defeating the Morehead State Eagles, 77-60, this past Thursday. Belmont was outstanding on the defensive end against the Eagles and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 40-26 halftime lead. Belmont shot 50.9% from the field while holding Morehead State to just 33.3% shooting from the field & 26.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bruins was Nick Muszynski who had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.

The Colonels are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss and 9-2-2 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Bruins are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Eastern Kentucky has one of the better players in the OVC in Nick Mayo to go along with an offense that ranks 18th in scoring offense, however, the Colonels have really struggled defensively this season as they rank 346th in FG% & 327th in defensive FG%. Belmont will once again be one of the top teams in the OVC and although their defense ranks just 249th in scoring defense, their offense has been outstanding as they rank 19th in scoring offense, 55th in FG%, and 28th in three-pointers made per game.
Eastern Kentucky has struggled as of late ATS on the road, but this is a team that some solid offensive talent and recent gave Murray State all they could handle before the Racers pulled away in the final two minutes. Belmont is the better team and will win this game, however, I’m expecting a high scoring affair and as I think the Colonels will be able to put up some points in this one, I’m taking Eastern Kentucky and the points. Good Luck!
