Belmont Bruins -18.5 -- Over/Under: 164
The UT Martin Skyhawks will travel to the Curb Event Center to take on the Belmont Bruins this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The UT Martin Skyhawks will dropped to 6-14 (1-8 OVC) on the season after being defeating by the Tennessee State Tigers, 68-67, this past Thursday. UT Martin fought back from a 42-29 deficit early in the 2nd half to take a late lead, however, couldn’t hang onto the victory after Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey gave Tennessee State the lead for good after hitting a go ahead layup with just :05 seconds left in regulation. UT Martin shot 40.4% from the field and was outrebounded by a 35-28 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Skyhawks was Craig Randall II who had 17 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and a steal.
On the season, UT Martin is averaging 76.1 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 33.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UT Martin has been led by Quintin Dove (11.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg), Preston Parks (11.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.4 spg), Derek Hawthorne Jr. (10.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.6 spg), and Fatodd Lewis (10.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.1 apg).
Defensively, UT Martin is allowing their opponents to average 80.4 ppg on 49.3% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks have a rebound margin of -1.7 and a turnover margin of 0.9.
The Belmont Bruins won their 4th straight game and improved to 16-4 (7-2 OVC) on the season after defeating the SE Missouri State RedHawks, 97-71, this past Thursday. Belmont dominated the RedHawks on both ends of the court in the 1st half and had no trouble securing the win after taking a 47-29 halftime lead. Belmont shot 52.7% from the field and outrebounded SE Missouri State by a 36-26 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bruins was Kevin McClain who had 31 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Belmont is averaging 87.0 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Bruins are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game on 35.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Belmont has been led by Dylan Windler (19.1 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.5 spg), Kevin McClain (15.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.4 spg), Nick Muszynski (15.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.5 bpg), and Grayson Murphy (10.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.8 spg).
Defensively, Belmont is allowing their opponents to average 76.6 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Bruins have a rebound margin of 3.3 and a turnover margin of 0.3.
The Skyhawks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games and just 1-10 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Bruins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.
UT Martin has lost 10 of their last 11 games and has really struggled defensively this season as they currently rank just 336th in scoring defense, & 347th in defensive FG%. Belmont has won 7 of their last 8 games and has been outstanding on the offensive end this season as the Bruins currently rank 5th in scoring offense, 15th in FG%, and T-36th in three-pointers made per game.
UT-Martin has yet to win a game on the road this season (0-11) and their first win isn’t going to happen on Saturday as they face one of the best teams in the OVC in Belmont. Belmont is 10-1 at home this season and as their high-powered offense could put up 100 points against the UT Martin defense in this one, I’m taking the Bruins to cover this large home spread.
