The Colorado State Rams will travel to Taco Ball Arena to take on the Boise State Broncos this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.
The Colorado State Rams won their 3rd straight game and improved to 7-6 on the season after defeating the Long Beach State 49ers, 68-66, this past Saturday. Colorado State led by a 34-31 margin at halftime and secured the victory in dramatic fashion when the Rams Prentiss Nixon hit a game winning three-pointers as time expired. Colorado State was able to get the victory despite shooting just 38.7% from the field and 20.0% (5-25) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Rams was Che Bob who had a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. On the season, Colorado State is averaging 70.5 ppg on 40.6% shooting from the field. The Rams are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 29.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Colorado State has been led by Prentiss Nixon (17.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.3 spg), Deion James (10.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.2 apg), Che Bob (10.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg), and Jeremiah Paige (10.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.1 spg). Defensively, Colorado State is allowing their opponents to average 75.4 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of 3.8 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Boise State Broncos had their 6-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 10-2 on the season after being defeated by the SMU Mustangs, 86-63, on December 18th. Boise State struggled on the offensive end against the though SMU defense and couldn’t fight back after trailing by a 33-23 margin at halftime. Boise State shot just 37.7% from the field and 31.3% (10-32) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Broncos was Chandler Hutchison who had 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, Boise State is averaging 77.3 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Broncos are averaging 11.3 three-pointers per game on 39.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Boise State has been led by Chandler Hutchison (15.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.1 spg), Justinian Jessup (15.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.3 spg), Christian Sengfelder (11.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg), and Alex Hobbs (10.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg). Defensively, Boise State is holding their opponents to an average of 64.5 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field. The Broncos have a rebound margin of 7.4 and a turnover margin of -1.9.
The Rams are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games vs. Mountain West opponents. The Broncos are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Colorado State might be coming into this game with a three game winning streak, however, the Rams have struggled a bit on both sides of the ball this season as Colorado State ranks just 272nd in scoring offense and 251st in scoring defense. Boise State had their worst game of the season against a tough SMU team on the road, however, the Broncos have been impressive in their early part of the season and currently rank 122nd in scoring offense, 35th in scoring defense, and 56th in defensive FG%. Boise State has played great at home this season and I just don’t see the Rams slowing down Chandler Hutchison, I’m taking the Broncos to cover this large home spread.
