The Utah State Aggies and the Boise State Broncos meet in Mountain West college basketball action from the Taco Bell Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Utah State Aggies will look to stay hot after winning 3 straight and 10 of their last 11 games following a 71-55 win over New Mexico in their last outing. Neemias Queta led the Aggies with 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting with 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks for the double-double. Sam Merrill and Diogo Brito each had 13 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Utah State in the win with Merril shooting a poor 3 of 18 from the floor with 3 threes, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a pair of steals while Brito had a pair of threes, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Abel Porter dished out a team-high 5 assists while Justin Bean had 8 points with 3 steals and a pair of blocks. Merrill leads Utah State with an average of 19.8 points and 4.3 assists per game while Queta leads the Aggies in rebounding with 9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Utah State is averaging 78.6 points per game on 47.2% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the arc and 74.7% from the foul line this season.

The Boise State Broncos will look to rebound from back-to-back losses and defeats in 4 of their last 5 games after a 71-65 loss to San Diego State last time out. Justinian Jessup led the Broncos with 19 points on 8 of 15 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 6 rebounds while Derrick Alson added 12 points as the only other scorer in double figures for Boise State in the loss. Marcus Dickinson added 3 steals while David Wacker dished out a team-high 4 assists. Jessup leads Boise State with an average of 13.1 points and 2.4 assists per game while RJ Williams leads the Broncos on the glass with 5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Boise State is averaging 71.7 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field, 34.5% from behind the arc and 71.7% from the foul line this season.

Utah State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Boise State is 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning road record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS loss. Utah State is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams and 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings at Boise State.

Getting points with a home dog is tempting considering that the Aggies haven’t been the strongest team ATS on the road as of late. However, Utah State is playing much better basketball than Boise State as of late, and have flat out owned the Broncos in recent years both overall and at the Taco Bell Arena. If the line was thicker I’d consider the points, but given that we only have to lay a bucket here, I’ll do just that and side with Utah State in this one.
