The Providence Friars visit the Boston College Eagles for non-conference college basketball.
The Providence Friars hot start continued in a 59-50 win against visiting Rhode Island on Saturday to up their record to 6-2. Providence took a 12 point lead in to the intermission and turned this over to their defense with Rhode Island held to 29.8% from the floor to make their 36% shooting a winning performance.
Providence saw 15 points and four pulls from AJ Reeves on 5-12 from the field including three long balls while Isaiah Jackson added 13 points and nine rebounds on 3-6 shooting and 5-7 at the line. Nate Wilson gave the Friars 12 points and seven boards on 5-8 accuracy followed by four others that chipped in with 4-5 points.
The Boston College Eagles have racked up a 6-1 record after upending Sacred Hart 81-73 on Thursday. Boston College led by ten after 20 minutes and were content to trade baskets the rest of the way. The Eagles held a 45.2%-38.9% shooting edge with a 20-9 advantage at the line to negate ten more Pioneers shots.
Wynston Tabbs poured in a game high 28 points with seven boards, five assists and three steals on 9-15 marksmanship while BC received 15 points, three yanks and six helpers from Ky Bowman on 5-14. Nik Popovic gave the Eagles 14 points and six boards on 5-10 from the field while Jairus Hamilton added ten points and nine rebounds on 4-7 accuracy.
