NCAA BB | Richmond Spiders (2-9) at Boston College Eagles (9-3)

The Boston College Eagles welcome the Richmond Spiders to town for non-conference college basketball action.

The Richmond Spiders are not the team of recent years and are obviously rebuilding at just 2-9. Richmond is coming off of an 86-78 loss to the Bucknell Bison on Tuesday where an eleven point lead at the intermission went by the wayside thanks to a 50-31 Bison run over the final 20 minutes. The Spiders were outshot 49.2%-44.1% which made the difference.

De’Monte Buckingham led the Richmond offense with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists on 6-16 with a 9-9 effort at the line followed by Jacob Gilyard with 15 points and four helpers on 4-9 shooting. The Spiders received 14 points and eight rebounds from Grant Golden while Khwan Fore and Nick Sherrod combined for 21 points.

The Boston College Eagles are off to a surprising 9-3 start to the year and we’ll have to wait to see if this continues. Boston College has won four in a row capped off by an 84-65 win versus the Central Connecticut Blue Devils behind a 50.8%-40.4% edge in marksmanship.

Jordan Chatman paced a balanced Eagle offense with 15 points and four yanks on 5-11 from the field with three long balls followed by a 14 point, seven board effort from Ky Bowman on 7-11 accuracy. Jerome Robinson and Steffon Mitchell gave BC 13 points each with Mitchell hauling in 14 rebounds while Nik Popovic chipped in with eleven points.

Boston College should win this by double figures but seeing this team as a huge favorite makes me cringe…

Bosto College -10

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
