The Line: Bradley Braves -7 -- Over/Under:
Over at Carver Arena on Wednesday, the Illinois State Redbirds and the Bradley Braves will be meeting up in college basketball activity.
Illinois State enters this one with a 14-12 record overall. The Redbirds had won four games in a row, but dropped one to Valparaiso on Sunday. In that game, Illinois State guard William Tinsley managed 13 points.
Heading up the scoring for Illinois State is Milik Yarbrough with 16.1 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 4.7 APG. Also in double-figures for the Redbirds are Keyshawn Evans (15.6 PPG) and Phil Fayne (15.5 PPG; 7.0 RPG).
Over on the Bradley side, they’re sitting at 17-10 on the year. The Braves have lost their last three straight games, most recently against Southern Illinois on Sunday. In that one, Bradley guard Jayden Hodgson put up 12 points.
Bradley’s leading scorer this season is Darrell Brown, with 13.3 PPG and 4.4 APG. The only other Braves player averaging in double-figures this year is Donte Thomas with 10.9 PPG and 7.0 RPG.
Illinois State is 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 following a straight-up loss and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games. The Redbirds are also 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 following an ATS loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 22-4-2 ATS in their last 28 home games and 7-2-ATS in their last nine Wednesday games. Bradley is also 1-3-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss.
With both Evans and Fayne banged up right now, nothing is assured for Illinois State. Still, when the Redbirds are healthy and clicking they can put up decent numbers—they had at least 75 points in each outing of that four-game win streak. As for Bradley, they had a pretty good run going but have hit the skids in their last three. I’m going to go with Illinois State to eke out a cover here.
