The Akron Zips and the Buffalo Bulls will meet up on the college basketball circuit in the MAC Tournament Thursday.

Akron comes in here with a 17-15 mark overall. The Zips are 2-1 in their last three games, beating Bowling Green and falling to Kent State before taking out Miami OH in the first round of the tournament Monday .

In the win over the RedHawks, Akron’s top scorer was Loren Jackson on 25 points with six assists. Daniel Utomi had a nice line for the Zips there as well with 20 points, and Jimond Ivey put up14 points and six assists.

Over on the Buffalo side, they’re 28-3 so far. The Bulls haven’t lost since February 1 (to Bowling Green), and they’ve taken out Miami OH, Ohio and Bowling Green in their last three outings.

In the win over the Falcons, Buffalo’s top scorer was Nick Perkins with 22 points and six boards. CJ Massinburg helped out the Bulls with 15 points and six rebounds in that one, and Jeremy Harris had 14 points with five rebounds.

The Zips are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 versus the MAC. Akron is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 neutral-site games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. Buffalo is 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the MAC and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall.

Akron is kind of an all-or-nothing team these days when it comes to the scoreboard, as they’ve put up 65 points or fewer in three of their last five games. That’s concerning coming into a big game versus Buffalo, who took it 77-64 the last time these teams met and 76-70 the first.

I’m not convinced the Zips can keep up here, so I’m going with the Bulls on the cover.

Pick:
Buffalo Bulls -9
