The DePaul Blue Demons and the Butler Bulldogs meet in Big East college basketball action from the Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday evening.

The DePaul Blue Demons will look to rebound after a 92-73 loss to Marquette in their last outing. Femi Olujobi led the Blue Demons with 19 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 3 threes and a 6 of 6 mark from the foul line while Max Strus added 16 points and Devin Gage chipped in 10 points and a team-high 4 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for DePaul in the losing effort. Paul Reed added 9 points with a team-leading 11 rebounds and 3 blocks as well in defeat. Strus leads the Blue Demons in scoring with 17 points per game while Reed leads DePaul in rebounding with 8.3 rebounds per game and Gage leads the Blue Demons in assists with 4 helpers per game this season. As a team, DePaul is averaging 75.8 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field, 32.5% from behind the arc and 72.9% from the foul line this season.

The Butler Bulldogs will look to bounce back after a 77-73 overtime loss to St. John’s last time out. Kamar Baldwin led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Paul Jorgensen added 15 points with a team-high 9 rebounds as the only other Bulldog to score in double figures in the losing effort. Henry Baddley added 9 points with 8 rebounds while Aaron Thompson added 6 points with a team-high 4 assists. Baldwin leads Butler with an average of 17.2 points and 5 rebounds per game while Thompson leads the Bulldogs in assists with 4.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Butler is averaging 72.8 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field, 36.1% from behind the arc and 73.5% from the foul line this season.

DePaul is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. Butler is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. DePaul is 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Butler.

I can understand why Butler would be favored, being at home and already having a road win over DePaul this season. However, both of these teams have been inconsistent and it’s not like Butler is playing THAT much better than the Blue Demons right now. You also have to imagine that there’s some form of revenge on the minds of the Blue Demons after Butler beat them at home already. DePaul has also been very good at covering the number on the road since conference play started, so I’ll lean towards DePaul and the points in this one.

DePaul +6.5
