The DePaul dropped to 9-12 (2-7 Big East) on the season after being defeated by the Seton Hall Pirates, 86-70, this past Sunday. DePaul had no answers on the defensive end for Seton Hall and trailed by double-digits for most of the 2nd half after Blue Demons went into halftime losing by a 46-31 margin. The Butler Bulldogs won their 3rd straight game and improved to 16-7 (6-4 Big East) on the season after defeating the Marquette Golden Eagles, 92-72, this past Wednesday. Butler was incredible offensively against the Marquette defense and easily pulled away in the 2nd half after taking a 69-39 lead with 10:48 left in regulation. Butler shot 60.0% from the field and 51.7% (8-14) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Tyler Wideman who had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block, and a steal. The Blue Demons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss. The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games.
DePaul has been more competitive this season in Big East play, however, the Blue Demons still have lost 7 of their last 10 games and have been nothing more than average on both sides of the ball as they currently rank just 191st in scoring offense and 208th in scoring defense. The Bulldogs have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late, winning their last 3 games by an average of 19.0 ppg, and has been led by their offense that ranks 53rd in scoring offense and 40th in FG%. Butler is 11-1 at home this season, however, and as they already beat DePaul by a 12-point margin on the road, I think the Bulldogs continue their solid play and cover this large home spread. Take Butler to cover.
