The Line: Butler Bulldogs -11.5 -- Over/Under:
Coming up from Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday, the Georgetown Hoyas and the Butler Bulldogs will be matching up in college basketball action.
Georgetown is sitting at 14-10 on the year so far. The Hoyas had lost four games in a row before taking out Seton Hall on Saturday. In that one, Georgetown forward Marcus Derrickson managed 22 points.
Jessie Govan is the top scorer for the Hoyas on the season with 16.7 PPG and 10.0 PPG. The only other Georgetown player in double-digits is Derrickson (15.8 PPG; 8.2 RPG), but Jahvon Blair isn’t far off with 9.6 PPG.
As for Butler, they’re currently 17-9 this year. The Bulldogs had won four straight, but lost their last two versus Xavier and Villanova. In that Saturday game, Butler’s Kelan Martin led the way on 30 points.
Martin is also the top scorer this year for the Bulldogs, with 20.7 PPG and 6.3 RPG. Also in double-figures for Butler on the season are Kamar Baldwin (16.0 PPG) and Paul Jorgensen (10.7 PPG).
The Hoyas are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four versus the Big East. Georgetown is also 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games versus a team with a losing road record and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 home games. Butler is also 0-4 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games following an ATS loss.
Georgetown just isn’t playing well lately. The Hoyas beat Seton Hall Saturday, but also coughed up a 17-point lead in the process. That makes at least 80 points allowed by Georgetown in three of the last four games. The last time these teams met was a 91-89 2OT win for Butler at Georgetown, so this will likely be another classic. I think the Bulldogs will get it again here.
