The Butler Bulldogs are in dire need of a win after back-to-back losses and defeats in 7 of their last 9 games following a 75-61 loss to Creighton in their last outing. Kamar Baldwin led the Bulldogs with 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting with a pair of threes as the only Butler player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Marquette is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 conference games. Butler is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 conference games. Marquette is 1-9-2 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these two teams and 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Butler.
Butler has flat out owned this matchup over the years, so a date with Marquette could be what the doctor ordered to get the Bulldogs out of this slump. However, if it was any other Marquette team than this one. The Golden Eagles are rolling right now and are looking like a serious threat behind the likes of Markus Howard and the Hausers. Given the form of these two teams, trends aside, we are getting a free bucket with the much better team and that’s something I’ll rarely turn down so I’ll take Marquette and the points here.
