The Seton Hall Pirates snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 13-8 (4-5 Big East) on the season after defeating the Providence Friars, 65-63, this past Wednesday. Seton Hall was solid on the defensive end and was able to hang on for the victory after taking a 65-61 lead on a Myles Powell dunk with 1:47 left in regulation. Seton Hall held Providence to just 38.2% shooting from the field and outrebounded Providence by a 38-28 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Pirates was Myles Powell who had 31 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals.

On the season, Seton Hall is averaging 73.8 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Pirates are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Seton Hall has been led by Myles Powell (21.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.9 spg), Quincy McKnight (10.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.7 spg), Michael Nzei (9.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.0 apg), and Sandro Mamukelashvili (8.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.4 bpg).

Defensively, Seton Hall is allowing their opponents to average 71.7 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Pirates have a rebound margin of -1.0 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The Butler Bulldogs lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 12-10 (3-6 Big East) on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles, 76-58, this past Wednesday. Butler was outplayed on both ends of the court throughout the game and couldn’t fight back after Marquette took a 51-34 lead with 13:05 left in the 2nd half. Butler allowed Marquette to shot 56.9% from the field while the Bulldogs shot just 32.8% from the field and 23.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Kamar Baldwin who had 16 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals.

The Pirates are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Bulldogs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home, however, just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. Big East opponents.

Seton Hall has lost 5 of their last 7 games and have been average on both ends of the court this season as they currently rank T-167th in scoring offense, 148th in FG%, and 182nd in scoring defense. Butler has dropped 7 of their last 10 games and currently rank just 188th in scoring offense, 254th in defensive FG%, and 258th in rebound margin.

Seton Hall was able to defeat Butler by a 76-75 margin at home earlier this season and has been solid on the road this season as they are 7-4 ATS in away games. Butler is always a tough team to play at Hinkle Fieldhouse, however, I think the these are two pretty evenly matched teams as I expect another close game, I’m taking Seton Hall and the points in that one.

Seton Hall Pirates +5.5
