As a team, Gonzaga is averaging the most points per game in the country with the highest field goal percentage in the nation, averaging 91.4 points per game on 52.4% shooting from the floor. The Bulldogs are also shooting 36.6% from behind the arc and 75.6% from the foul line this season.
The BYU Cougars will look to stay hot after a 71-66 win over Saint Mary’s in their last outing. Yoeli Childs led the Cougars with 23 points on 10 of 24 shooting with 11 rebounds and a apair of blocks for the double-double while TJ Haws added 17 points and a team-high 7 assists. Gavin Baxter added 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for BYU in the winning effort. Gonzaga is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. BYU is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 conference games. Gonzaga is 11-5-2 ATS in the last 18 meetings between these two teams and 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams at BYU.
This seems like a lot of points to lay on the road on the surface. However, Gonzaga has had BYU’s number, both overall and at the Marriott Center and are 1.5 games clear of 2nd place in the WCC standings right now. To put that into perspective, Gonzaga is 6-0 in conference play with an average margin of victory of 31.1 points per game. That’s downright insane. BYU has had issues keeping points off of the board and haven’t had much luck ATS when it comes to above average opposition, so I’ll lay the points with Gonzaga in what could get very ugly by the end of the game.
