The Cal State Northridge Matadors go on the road to oppose the Cal Poly Mustangs in Saturday night college basketball.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors began Big West play with an 84-83 victory at UC Riverside as a one point favorite on Wednesday.

Cal State Northridge came back from a seven point deficit at the break behind a 52.7%-46.6% edge in marksmanship.

Terrell Gomez saved the Matadors with a contest high 32 points while Lamine Diane added 21 points, eight rebounds and seven helpers.

CSN received 16 points, eight boards and three helpers from Rodney Henderson Jr. followed by Darius Brown II with seven points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Cal Poly Mustangs kicked off play in the Big West with a 65-56 loss at UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday as a 13 point road dog.

Cal Poly fell behind by eight point at the intermission and couldn’t mount a come back with only 37.7% shooting to lean on.

Donovan Fields was the lone Mustangs player to crack double figures in scoring with 19 points, three yanks and eight helpers.

Cal Poly saw nine points from Marcellus Garrick followed by Mark Hollingsworth and Kuba Niziol with eight points apiece and a combined eight rebounds.
