The Line: California +5.5 -- Over/Under: 146
The Colorado Buffaloes and California Golden Bears meet Thursday in college basketball action at the Haas Pavilion.
The Colorado Buffaloes could use a win here after losing six of their last eight games. The Colorado Buffaloes are averaging 76.7 points on 45.5 percent shooting and allowing 69.6 points on 43.7 percent shooting. McKinley Wright IV is averaging 12.9 points and 5.3 assists while Lucas Siewert is averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds. Tyler Bey is the third double-digit scorer and Shane Gatling is grabbing 1.5 rebounds. The Colorado Buffaloes are shooting 33.7 percent from beyond the arc and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. The Colorado Buffaloes are allowing 31.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 34.5 rebounds per game. The Colorado Buffaloes have lost their last four road games.
The California Golden Bears could also use a win that would snap a seven-game losing streak. The California Golden Bears are averaging 70.8 points on 43.6 percent shooting and allowing 79.7 points on 49.8 percent shooting. Justice Sueing is averaging 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while Paris Austin is averaging 13.1 points and 4.7 assists. Darius McNeill is the third double-digit scorer and Matt Bradley is grabbing 3.1 rebounds. The California Golden Bears are shooting 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 74.9 percent from the free throw line. The California Golden Bears are allowing 38.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 27.1 rebounds per game. The California Golden Bears have split their last eight home games.
The Buffaloes are 20-46-1 ATS in their last 67 road games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Pacific-12 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Golden Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Buffaloes are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The under is 16-6 in Golden Bears last 22 vs. Pacific-12. The under is 9-2 in Buffaloes last 11 overall.
The Colorado Buffaloes aren't a team you should be looking to back in their current form, especially in spots like this considering they're just 2-7 ATS on the road and are struggling on defense all of a sudden. The problem is the California Golden Bears are easily one of the worst teams in terms in a power conference, as they're being outscored by an average of 18.6 points in their last five games and are just 5-13 ATS this season despite being underdogs most nights. Cal has only been favored five times this season. I don't want to lay chalk with the Colorado Buffaloes, but I'm certainly not going to back Cal in any shape or form. So, it's the Buffaloes or pass for me.
