Washington State at California
|Date & Time||Saturday March 2, 2019, 7:00 PM (EST)|
California Golden Bears +1.5 O/U: 153
The Washington State Cougars and the California Golden Bears will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
Washington State comes into this one at 11-17 on the season. The Cougars are just 1-3 in the last four games, beating Colorado and falling to Washington, Utah and Stanford.
In the loss to the Cardinal, Washington State’s top scorer was CJ Ellery with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Isaiah Wade added 14 points and seven boards for the Cougars there, and Robert Franks had 11 points.
Over on the California side, they’re 6-22 this year. Heading into Thursday’s game versus Washington, the Bears hadn’t won since December 21, but Cal banged out a very unexpected 76-73 victory.
In the stunning upset of the Huskies, California’s lead scorer was Darius McNeill with 19 points. Connor Vanover added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Bears there, and Justice Sueing logged 14 points with eight rebounds and six assists.
The Cougars are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 overall and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 after a straight-up loss. Washington State is 2-6 ATS int heir last eight road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight Saturday games. Cal is 6-14 ATS in their last 20 overall and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 after an ATS win.
Up until that Stanford game they lost 98-50, the Cougars were on a pretty good scoring run and had been mostly competitive in a string of a half-dozen games. Getting outscored 52-15 in the first half versus the Cardinal was a real momentum-killer, though. Wow.
Following that stinker, it’s tough to pick the Cougars to do much of anything, but I think they’re set up pretty well against California here. I’m going to go with Washington State on the cover, but I don’t necessarily love the pick.
