The Line: Charlotte 49ers +1 -- Over/Under:
Coming up from Halton Arena on Thursday, the UTEP Miners and the Charlotte 49ers will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.
UTEP enters this one with a 7-17 record overall. The Miners have lost their last six straight games, falling to UT San Antonio on Saturday. In that one, UTEP’s leading scorer was center Matt Willms with 12 points.
Keith Frazier and Omega Harris are the top scorers this year for the Miners, each averaging 11.0 PPG. They’re the only two players in double-digits for UTEP, but Willms is close on 9.3 PPG and 5.3 RPG.
As for Charlotte, they’re sitting at 5-18 this season. The 49ers have lost their last 10 games, dropping to Southern Miss on Saturday. In that game, Charlotte guard Jon Davis managed 20 points.
Davis leads the Charlotte team in scoring with 16.1 PPG and 5.1 APG this year, and Andrien White is second with 13.8 PPG. They’re the only two current 49ers players in double-figures right now.
UTEP is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games. The Miners are also 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are 9-23 ATS in their last 32 games overall and 2-7 ATS in the last nine home games. Charlotte is also 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus CUSA and 0-4 in their last four Thursday games.
UTEP has been struggling to find offense lately, as they’ve come up with 65 points or fewer in five of their last six games. The good news for them is that Charlotte can’t do much right lately either, logging 66 or fewer in eight of their last 10 games. There’s not much intrigue going on here, but I’ll stick with UTEP to get the cover.
