SoCon college basketball action continues with the Chattanooga Mocs hosting the Mercer Bears.

The Mercer Bears fell to 1-3 in the Southern after a heartbreaking 72-68 loss to East Tennessee State as a six point home dog on Saturday.

This was nip and tuck until the final buzzer with Mercer riding 46.9% marksmanship and the Buccaneers hitting at 38.6% with 21 more shots.

Ross  Cummings  carried  the  Bears  upset  bid with  22  points and four pulls followed by Ethan Stair with a 13 point effort.

Jaylen Stowe and Djordje Dimitrijevic gave Mercer 12 points each with Stowe grabbing seven rebounds while Cory Kilby chipped in with six points.

The Chattanooga Mocs have held their own with a 2-2 record in conference play after downing Samford 80-75 on Saturday as a four point home dog.

The Mocs burned the nets at 52.5% but the Bulldogs stayed competitive on 42.6% shooting with nine more looks and a 12-6 edge at the line.

Kevin Easley was a key figure in the Mocs upset with 20 points and six boards while Ramon Vila added 18 points and eleven rebounds.

Chattanooga saw ten points and four helpers from Donovann Toatley followed by Thomas Smallwood and Jerry Johnson Jr. with nine points apiece.

Over is 7-1 in Mercer last 8 overall and Mercer are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 vs. Southern. Over is 8-2 in Chattanooga last 10 home games and Chattanooga are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and over is 6-2 in Chattanooga last 8 overall. Over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.

Mercer is better then their record so I’m tempted but I’ll side with the over trend…
