The Chattanooga Mocs host the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks in non-conference college basketball action.
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks lost a ton of production from a year ago and it’s hurting the team at both ends of the floor. Tennessee-Martin fell to 1-6 thanks to an 84-60 loss at the LSU Tigers as a 15 point underdog. LSU made sure there was no upset with a 17 point advantage at the halfway point behind a 50%-43.8% difference in shooting.
The Skyhawks had limited offensive options with Matthew Butler topping the team with 17 points, three yanks and five assists along with a team high five turnovers. Darius gave UT Martin 16 points on 3-10 shooting but 8-10 at the charity stripe while DelFincko Bogan and Jallen Gill chipped in with eight points apiece.
The Chattanooga Mocs saw the bulk of their talent graduate from last season and the team is 3-4 with two wins coming against subdivision squads. Chattanooga comes in off of a 75-70 defeat at the Akron Zips as an 8.5 point underdo with an eleven point halftime deficit held up. The Mocs burned the nets at 54.2% but the Zips connected at 52.8% with five more looks and the extra shots were decisive.
Rodney Chatman kept Chattanooga competitive with 19 points, three yanks and three assists along with five turnovers on 8-16 from the floor followed by Nat Dixon with 16 points, six boards and six helpers on 4-7 shooting including 7-7 at the line. Joshua Phillips gave the Mocs another 13 points while James Lewis Jr. chipped in with nine points.
UTM are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games and UTM s are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games. Chattanooga are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games and under is 9-2 in Chattanooga last 11 overall and Chattanooga are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Both teams lost the vast majority of their production but I believe the Mocs are a bit better…
