SoCon college basketball action gives us the VMI Keydets taking the floor at the Chattanooga Mocs on Sunday.

The VMI Keydets head towards their conference opener riding a three game skid after dropping an 89-68 decision at #14 Virginia Tech as a 32.5 point underdog. VMI faced a 21 point deficit at intermission before trading baskets the rest of the way with the Hokies holding a 51.7%-43.3% shooting advantage.

Garrett Gilkeson carried the Keydets offense with a game high 21 points and four pulls on 7-12 marksmanship and 6-7 at the stripe followed by Sarju Patel with 13 points on 4-8 from the field including three long balls. Bubba Parham gave VMI 12 points, five boards and three helpers on 5-13 shooting with Greg Parham chipping in eight points, four rebounds and four assists on 4-8.

The Chattanooga Mocs are eyeing a third consecutive victory following 71-60 win versus visiting Tennessee Tech as a six point favorite. Chattanooga jumped to a 17 point lead after 20 minutes before holding off a second half Golden Eagles rally behind 46.2% shooting and a 13-29 effort on long balls.

Jerry Johnson Jr. topped a balanced Mocs attack with 14 points, five boards and four helpers on 5-13 shooting while Maurice Commander added 13 points, three yanks, three assists and three steals on 4-5 from deep. David Jean-Baptiste and Kevin Easley gave Chattanooga eleven points each with Easley posting six rebounds followed by Keigen Kerby with nine points and four boards on 3-4.

VMI are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. Southern and under is 24-7 in VMI last 31 vs. Southern. Chattanooga  are 3-16-2 ATS in their last 21 Sunday games and over is 6-2 in Chattanooga last 8 home games and Chattanooga are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games.
