Cincinnati Bearcats -10 -- O/U: 145
The Memphis Tigers and the Cincinnati Bearcats meet in AAC college basketball action from the Fifth Third Arena on Saturday night.
The Memphis Tigers will look to build on their current 3-game winning streak after an 81-73 win over Temple in their last outing. Jeremiah Martin led the Tigers with 30 points on 11 of 16 shooting with a team-high 5 assists while Kyvon Davenport added 12 points with a pair of steals and Antwann Jones added 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Memphis in the winning effort. Martin leads Memphis with an average of 19.4 points and 4.4 assists per game while Davenport leads the Tigers on the glass with 7.1 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Memphis is averaging 82.3 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 33.2% from behind the 3-point line and 70.9% from the foul line this season.
The Cincinnati Bearcats will look to build on their current 4-game winning streak after a 52-49 road win over SMU last time out. Jarron Cumberland led the Bearcats with 12 points as the only double-digit scorer for Cincinnati in the winning effort while also adding a team-high 4 assists. Nysier Brooks chipped in 8 points with a team-high 12 rebounds and 3 blocks while Tre Scott chipped in 4 points with 10 rebounds. Cumberland led the Bearcats with 18.3 points and 3.6 assists per game while Scott leads Cincinnati in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Cincinnati is averaging 72.4 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field, 35.3% from behind the 3-point line and 71.6% from the foul line this season. The Bearcats are also solid defensively, sitting 8th in the country in terms of scoring defense, allowing just 61 points per game this season.
Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 7-1-1 in their last 9 road games. Cincinnati is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Both of these teams come into this one on respective hot streaks so I’m a bit surprised to see Cincinnati as this much of a favorite, even at home. Sure, the Bearcats are a solid team defensively and are 15-1 SU at home this season, but the Bearcats have had some close calls at home as of late and have had a hard time covering numbers at home against teams not named Tulane. The road team has had a lot of success in this one and I think Memphis are more than capable of hanging around in this game, so I’ll take a shot with the Tigers and the points in this one.
