The East Tennessee State Buccaneers and the Citadel Bulldogs will match up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.

East Tennessee State rolls into this one with a 13-4 mark on the season. The Buccaneers are on a nice five-game win streak right now, taking out Wyoming, Norfolk State, Furman, Samford and Chattanooga in that time.

In the win over the Mocs, ETSU’s top scorer was Tray Boyd with 19 points, two assists and one rebound. Bo Hodges posted 15 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Bucs, and Mladen Armus put up 10 rebounds with eight points.

Over on the Citadel side, they’re currently 9-5 this year. After a nice win streak, the Bulldogs have dropped their last three straight games to Longwood, Wofford and Furman in succession.

In the loss to the Paladins, the Citadel’s lead scorer was Lew Stallworth with 23 points, six assists and four rebounds. Alex Reed added 20 points and five boards for the Bulldogs and Zane Najdawi doubled up with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

ETSU is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 14-5-2 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Buccaneers are 17-7-3 ATS in their last 27 following an ATS win and 34-16-3 ATS in their last 53 overall.

Meanwhile, the Citadel are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 overall. The Bulldogs are 4-11 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games and the over is 5-1 in their last six following an ATS loss.

ETSU was no doubt frustrated with their last loss—a 73-55 affair versus a not-so-good Illinois team—but they’ve made up for it since then with at least 76 points scored in each of their last five.

The Bucs might run into some trouble here as the Citadel can certainly keep up on the scoreboard—but that said the Bulldogs are a very permissive team on defense.

I have to stick with the Buccaneers on the cover in this one, and the over looks enticing as well.
