The Citadel Bulldogs +7
The Furman Paladins and the Citadel Bulldogs will match up in college basketball action on Thursday.
Furman rolls into this matchup at 16-5 on the season thus far. Furman has dropped three of their last four games, beating Chattanooga while falling to UNCG, Wofford and Samford in that time.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, Furman center Matt Rafferty put up 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead the way, and Noah Gurley added 15 points with seven rebounds. Clay Mounce chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds for the Paladins in that one as well.
As for the Citadel, they’re 10-10 this year. Following an eight-game losing streak versus Longwood, Wofford, Furman, East TN State, WCU, Samford, Chattanooga and UNCG, the Bulldogs won their last outing versus VMI.
In the win over the Keydets, the Citadel’s top scorer was Lew Stallworth with 29 points, four rebounds and four assists. Zane Najdawi logged a double-double for the Bulldogs in that one with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Furman is 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. The Paladins are 21-7 ATS in their last 28 Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile the Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win and 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games. The Citadel is 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight versus the Southern.
Furman is a pretty solid team with some decent scorers on their roster, but they’ve been in a funk lately as far as finishing off games.
As for the Citadel, they’re looking to get some home revenge after falling 101-85 the last time these teams met. I expect this one to be a high-scoring affair as well and I think the Citadel will finish better, but the Bulldogs are just so cold ATS lately that I have to go Furman.
