The UNC Greensboro Spartans won their 2nd straight game and improved to 24-5 (13-3 Southern) on the season after defeating the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, 60-59, this past Sunday. In a tight back and forth game, UNC Greensboro was able to pull out the home victory after an Isaiah Miller layup gave the Spartans the lead for good with just :05 seconds left in regulation. UNC Greensboro won despite shooting just 37.9% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Spartans was James Dickey who had a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and a steal.
On the season, UNC Greensboro is averaging 76.2 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Spartans are averaging 7.7 three-pointers per game on 33.9% shooing from beyond the arc. Offensively, UNC Greensboro has been led by Francis Alonso (16.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.1 spg), Isaiah Miller (15.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 3.0 spg), Kyrin Galloway (9.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg), and James Dickey (7.5 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensively, UNC Greensboro is holding their opponents to an average of 67.0 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Spartans have a rebound margin of 0.4 and a turnover margin of 5.6.
The Citadel Bulldogs snapped their 3-game losing streak and improved to 12-15 (4-12 Southern) on the season after defeating the Samford Bulldogs, 87-83 in OT, this past Saturday. The Citadel fought back from a 37-27 halftime deficit to force OT and pulled away in OT after two Matt Frierson FT’s gave The Citadel a two-possession lead with just :12 seconds left in regulation. The Citadel held Samford to just 39.4% shooting from the field and won the turnover battle by a 15-10 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Zane Najdawi who had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 7 blocks.
On the season, The Citadel is averaging 85.5 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 12.0 three-pointers per game on 33.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, The Citadel has been led by Lew Stallworth (20.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.0 spg), Zane Najdawi (13.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg), Matt Frierson (12.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.1 apg), and Kaiden Rice (11.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg).
Defensively, The Citadel is allowing their opponents to average 85.3 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of -3.9 and a turnover margin of 1.3.
The Spartans are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Bulldogs are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games following a straight up win, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games.
UNC Greensboro has won 10 of their last 12 games and currently rank 90th in scoring offense, 101st in FG%, and T-62nd in scoring defense.
The Citadel has lost 13 of their last 16 games and although their fast-paced style of offense has the Bulldogs ranked 4th in scoring offense, the Bulldogs have really struggled defensively as they come into this match-up ranked just 350th in scoring defense and 286th in defensive FG%.
The Citadel is a team that can put up a bunch of points, however, the Bulldogs have had no success putting of their normal offensive numbers against the Spartans as over their last 4 games against UNC Greensboro, The Citadel is averaging just 60.5 ppg. UNC Greensboro is a solid 9-4 on the road this season and as I just don’t see UNC Greensboro having any trouble in this one, I’m taking the Spartans to cover this large road spread. Good Luck!
