The Western Carolina Catamounts matchup with the Citadel Bulldogs in SoCon college basketball action.

The Western Carolina Catamounts fell to 1-3 in the Southern following an 84-90 loss at Mercer on Thursday as a 12.5 point underdog. Western Carolina led by five at the break but were outscored 15-0 to begin the second half  before a late rally fell short. 

The Catamounts received 14 points each from Marc Gosselin, Carlos Dotson, Matt Halvorsen and Marcus Thomas along with a combined 26 rebounds.

Onno Steger gave Western Carolina ten points and four pulls followed by a seven point, three assist effort from Kameron Gibson.

The Citadel Bulldogs have had a rough start to the start of conference pla`y with three straight losses after a 98-73 loss to East Tennessee State Thursday as a 7.5 point home dog.

The Citadel were down seven points after 20 minutes but were outscored 60-40 in the second half with the Buccaneers connecting at over 56%.

Lew Stallworth was the Bulldogs top weapon with 18 points and six helpers while Kaiden Rice added 17 points, four pulls and two steals.

Zane Najdawi gave the Citadel eleven points, eight rebounds, two blocks and three steals followed by Alex Reed with seven points.
