Clemson, South Carolina
Clemson Tigers +5.5 O/U: 146
The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Clemson Tigers will match up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.
North Carolina sits at 23-5 on the season right now. Since falling to Virginia on February 11, the Tar Heels have dispatched Wake Forest, Duke, Florida State and Syracuse in succession.
In the win over the Orange, North Carolina’s Coby White led the team with 34 points, four rebounds and three assists. Cameron Johnson put up 16 points and seven boards for the Tar Heels there, and Luke Maye logged 12 rebounds, nine points and six assists.
Over on the Clemson side, they’re 17-11 this year. Following a three-game losing streak versus Miami FL, Louisville and Florida State, the Tigers have won their last pair versus Boston College and Pitt.
In the win over the Panthers, Clemson’s Marcquise Reed topped the team on 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Also in double-figures for the Tigers there were Elijah Thomas (12 points; eight rebounds; five assists) and Shelton Mitchell (10 points).
The Tar Heels are 10-1 ATS in the last 11 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. North Carolina is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 versus the ACC.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the ACC. Clemson is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 overall and the under is 4-1 in their last five Saturday games.
Since the loss to the Cavs, North Carolina has looked every bit as sharp as they can potentially be, however the Orange game was a bit of a scare at times. The Tar Heels had to come back from a 46-43 halftime deficit in that one to take it 93-85 after a 50-39 second half.
I see this game going somewhat similar to that one; it may take North Carolina a little while to acclimate themselves, but once they’re cooking they should be able to shred through the Tigers no problem. I’m sticking with UNC here.
