The Toledo Rockets lock horns with the Cleveland State Vikings in a Saturday college basketball tilt.
The Toledo Rockets are trying to establish themselves as a challenger in the MAC but we won’t know if that’s the case until conference action begins. Toledo put an end to a two game skid with a one sided 83-57 rout of the Jackson State Tigers. The Rockets led by 16 at the halfway point with a 45%-32.8% shooting edge and a 27-11 advantage at the stripe carrying the offense.
Toledo saw Luke Knapke and Nate Navigato pump in 16 points apiece with Navigato hauling in a game high ten rebounds on a combined 10-17 shooting. Jaelan Sanford added 15 points and five pulls on 5-11 from the floor with three bombs while Tre’Shaun Fletcher and Willie Jackson chipped in with seven points each.
The Cleveland State Vikings need a change of momentum to prevent the season from getting too far out of reach. Cleveland State has dropped four of five following an81-62 loss at the Cincinnati Bearcats as a 28 point underdog on Thursday. The Vikings sank half their shots but Cincinnati connected at 54% and totaled 15 more looks at the basket.
Tyree Appleby was the Vikings top offensive option with 16 points, four assists and a game high six turnovers on 7-11 from the floor. Kenny Carpenter gave Cleveland State eleven points on 4-10 shooting while Bobby Ward and Stefan Kenic chipped in with eight points apiece.
Toledo are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and Toledo are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. Cleveland State are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and Cleveland State are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
I think Cleveland State is dangerous here but the raw numbers are saying Toledo…
