Coastal Carolina fought back from a 57-49 deficit late in the 2nd half to make it game late, however, Texas State was able to put the game away after an Eric Terry jumper gave the Bobcats a 64-60 lead with just :11 seconds left in regulation. Coastal Carolina shot just 39.6% from the field & 15.8% from beyond the arc in the loss. Offensively, Coastal Carolina has been led by Zac Cuthbertson (19.1 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 3.1 apg), Tyrell Gumbs-Frater (8.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg), Amidou Bamba (7.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.1 bpg), and Ebrima Dibba (7.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Coastal Carolina is allowing their opponents to average 70.1 ppg on 41.2% shooting from the field. The Chanticleers have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of -1.4.
The Mavericks are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win. The Chanticleers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall, however, just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.
It’s been a tough season for the Mavericks as they’ve lost 10 of their last 12 games and offensive has been hard to come by for UT-Arlington as they currently rank just 332nd in scoring offense & 343rd in FG%. Coastal Carolina has lost 3 of their last 5 games, however, they have one of the better players in the Sun Belt in Zac Cuthbertson and have been decent on both ends of the court as they rank 118th in scoring offense, T-143rd in scoring defense, and 83rd in defensive FG%.
It’s a complete rebuilding year for the UT-Arlington and as I just don’t see the Mavericks being able to put up enough points on the road to keep up with Zac Cuthbertson and the Chanticleers offense, I’m taking Coastal Carolina to cover this mid-range home spread.
