NCAA BB | Future Bet Options for 2018-19 CBB National Title
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

We’re less than a month from the 2018-19 college basketball season, so now is the time you should be locking in future bets. Of course, I’m always looking at some dark horses with my futures, as I want some actual bang for my buck considering my money is tied up for several months.

These are five teams I’m looking at when it comes to betting the college basketball national title.

Tennessee Volunteers - The Tennessee Volunteers won 26 games last year and the SEC regular season title, making the second round of the NCAA Tournament as well. The two key guys who led the way in Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams are back for another season. Tennessee will once again be one of the best three point shooting teams and has possibly the top defense in all of college basketball. I’m not sure I trust Rick Barnes as head coach, but there’s no denying he has the goods and the toughness to get the job done. How you can find the Vols at +3300 odds to win the national title is beyond me. This has to be one of the best future bets on the board.

Nevada Wolf Pack - The Nevada Wolf Pack won two games in the NCAA Tournament last year before losing to the Loyola (IL) Ramblers by one point. Nevada has arguably the most explosive offense in the country with the returns of Cody Martin, Caleb Martin and Jordan Caroline, three guys who are all capable of taking over at any moment. Jordan Brown was also a top-40 recruit in the 2018 class and brings a post presence with his size and athleticism. The Nevada Wolf Pack has a chance to win the title by outscoring any team you put in front of them. Getting this squad at +1000 odds is a decent bet.

Kansas State Wildcats - If you’re looking for a big boy dark horse that could also provide hedging for later, the Kansas State Wildcats are a play at +10000 odds. Kansas State won three games in the big dance last year, which included a victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. This year, KSU returns its top-nine scorers, including Dean Wade, who is one of the top scorers in the Big 12 and wasn’t healthy toward the end of the season. Kansas State plays great defense and is one of the more experienced, deep teams in the country. The Kansas State Wildcats will once again make some noise and give you a nice hedging play with this big number.

Syracuse Orange - It seems like every year we argue if the Syracuse Orange should get a bid to the big dance. They get in somehow and make some noise. Just off that alone, you should consider Syracuse and +5000 odds, giving you a nice hedging window later in the tournament. Whether the Orange will need some help from the committee to get in again remains to be seen, but the trio of Oshae Brissett, Tyus Battle and Frank Howard makes them one of the more talented teams in the ACC. Syracuse should make the NCAA Tournament, and when they do, they’re one of those teams nobody wants to play, kind of like UConn from past years. It will be nice to have this big ticket in your pocket in the middle of March.

Duke Blue Devils - The Duke Blue Devils are the favorites to win the title, but you can still find them at +500 odds. As long as Duke stays healthy, this is probably the team to beat and a wonderful chance to make five times your money. Zion Williamson is a grown man and will be an unstoppable force. RJ Barrett is a strong candidate to be the No. 1 pick in next years NBA draft. Tre Jones was arguably the top point guard in the 2018 class and Cam Reddish is another 5-star recruit for good measure. Talent on top of talent. When Duke embarrasses teams at times this season, these odds will only drop. Get in while you still can.
