The Utah State Aggies will travel to Moby Arena to take on the Colorado State Rams this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Utah State Aggies won their 6th straight game and improved to 24-6 (14-3 MW) on the season after defeating the 12th ranked Nevada Wolf Pack, 81-76, this past Saturday. Utah State was outstanding defensively agianst the Wolf Pack and was able to hang on late after taking a 64-53 lead with 7:54 left in regulation. Utah State shot 47.1% from the field while holding Nevada to 36.4% shooting from the field and 26.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Aggies was Sam Merrill who had 29 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block.

On the season, Utah State is averaging 78.3 ppg on 46.9% shooting from the field. The Aggies are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 35.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Utah State has been led by Sam Merrill (20.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.1 spg), Neemias Queta (11.6 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.6 apg, 2.4 bpg), Brock Miller (8.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), and Quinn Taylor (8.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.3 apg).

Defensively, Utah State is holding their opponents to an average of 65.8 ppg on 38.8% shooting from the field. The Aggies have a rebound margin of 8.8 and a turnover margin of 0.3.

The Colorado State Rams had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 12-17 (7-9 MW) on the season after being defeated by the New Mexico Lobos, 77-65, this past Saturday. Colorado State struggled on the boards agianst the Lobos and couldn’t fight back after an 8-0 Lobos run gave New Mexico a 59-42 lead with 8:51 left in regulation. Colorado State allowed New Mexico to shoot 46.4% from the field and was outrebounded by the Lobos by a 47-26 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Rams was Nico Carvacho who had a double-double with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assits, and a steal.

On the season, Colorado State is averaging 75.2 ppg on 48.0% shooting from the field. The Rams are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 36.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Colorado State has been led by Nico Carvacho (16.2 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 2.1 apg), Jeremiah Paige (14.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.2 spg), Anthony Bonner (11.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), and Kris Martin (8.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.6 apg).

Defensively, Colorado State is allowing their opponents to average 75.0 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of 0.1 and a turnover margin of -0.7.

The Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Rams are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall.

Utah State has won 13 of their last 14 games and have been solid on both ends of the court as they come into this match-up ranked 52nd in scoring offense, 46th in scoring defense, and 6th in rebound margin.

Colorado State have split their last 10 games and currently rank T-110th in scoring offense, 30th in FG%, and 266th in scoring defense.

Colorado State is better than 12-17 record indicates and can be tough on their home court, however, Utah State has top-25 talent as they showed in their last two games in impressive victories over San Diego State & Nevada. Utah State should have a huge advantage on the boards and as I think Sam Merrill will be able to have success agianst the Rams defense, I’m taking Utah State to cover this mid-range road spread. Good Luck
