The Arizona Wildcats and the Colorado Buffaloes meet in Pac-12 college basketball action from the Coors Events Center on Sunday night.
The Arizona Wildcats will be out to snap a 6-game losing streak after an 83-76 loss to Utah last time out. Dylan Smith led the Wildcats with 16 points while Ryan Luther chipped in 14 points with 4 threes and Alex Barcello added 12 points. Ira Lee added 11 points with a team-high 8 rebounds to finish off the quartet of double-digit scorers for the Wildcats in the loss while Devonaire Doutrive chipped in 6 points with 6 rebounds and a team-high 4 assists and Justin Coleman had 7 points with 3 steals in the losing effort. Brandon Randolph was held to just 2 points but still leads Arizona in scoring with an average of 13.6 points per game while Coleman leads the Wildcats in assists with 3.5 assists per game and Chase Jeter leads ‘Zona in rebounding with 7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Arizona is averaging 72.5 points per game on 42.5% shooting from the field, 33.8% from behind the arc and 73.1% from the foul line this season.
The Colorado Buffaloes will look to build on their current 4-game winning streak after a 77-73 win over Arizona State in their last outing. McKinley Wright IV led the Buffs with 24 points on 9 of 12 shooting with 6 rebounds and a team-high 8 assists while Tyler Bey added 22 points on 9 of 13 shooting with a whopping 17 rebounds for the double-double as the only other Colorado player to score in double figures in the win. Lucas Siewert added 6 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists while Shane Gatling had 9 points and Evan Battey contributed 8 points. Wright IV leads Colorado with an average of 13.5 points and 5 assists per game while Bey leads the Buffaloes in rebounding with 9.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Colorado is averaging 75.5 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field, 32.4% from behind the 3-point line and 73.2% from the foul line this season.
Arizona is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 road games. Colorado is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 16-33-1 ATS in their last 50 games following a win while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
If at the beginning of the season you told me at this point, Colorado would be favored here, I would’ve thought you were crazy because Arizona is supposed to be the more talented team. However, nothing has gone right for the Wildcats lately, while Colorado is just picking up win after win and are building momentum at the right time. Add in the amount of success the home team has had in this matchup, and I think you have to side with the Buffaloes here.
