Monday NIT college basketball action pits the Norfolk State Spartans against the Colorado Buffaloes.
The Norfolk State Spartans pulled off the biggest upset of the NIT with an 80-79 victory against the Alabama Crimson Tide as a 16 point underdog.
Derrik Jamerson Jr. led the Spartans upset pouring in a game high 25 points with seven boards while Nic Thomas netted 15 points and logged three pulls.
Norfolk State received 13 points, seven points and seven he[lpers from Steven Whitley followed by Jordan Butler and Alex Long with a combined 20 points and 24 rebounds.
The Colorado Buffaloes rallied from an early deficit to edge the visiting Dayton Flyers 78-73 as a four point home favorite to move on to the second round.
The duo of McKinley Wright IV and D’Shawn Schwartz led the Buffaloes with 19 points apiece with a combined eight boards and seven helpers.
Colorado saw 14 points and 12 rebounds from Tyler Bey while Evan Battey and Daylen Kountz tossed in eight and six points respectively.
