The SMU Mustangs and the Connecticut Huskies will meet up in college basketball action on Thursday.

SMU cruises into this matchup at 10-4 on the season. The Mustangs fell to TCU back on December 5 but since have won their last four games versus Georgetown, Cornell, East Carolina and Tulane.

In the win over the Green Wave, SMU’s Jamal McMurray logged 25 points to lead the team. Ethan Chargois added 14 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs and Jimmy Whitt doubled up on 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Over on the Connecticut side, they’re 9-6 this season. The Huskies’ last win was against Drexel on December 18, and since they’ve fallen to Villanova, South Florida and UCF consecutively.

In the loss to the Knights, UConn’s top scorer was Alterique Gilbert with 18 points, four rebounds and one assist. The only other Huskies player in double-figures was Christian Vital with 15 points and five rebounds.

The Mustangs are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The under is 4-1 in SMU’s last five overall and 6-2 in their last eight road games.

Meanwhile, the Huskies are 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 versus the AAC. Connecticut is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 15-38-1 ATS in the last 54 following a straight-up loss.

Aside from a couple of early-season stumbles, SMU has been a pretty reliable team this season. In each of their last four games, the Mustangs have put up at least 74 points, and were above 80 in three of them.

As for Connecticut, they’ve had a few nice offensive outings this year but lately have been pretty “blah” on the scoreboard comparatively speaking. I’m going to stick with SMU on the cover here.
