The Line: UConn Huskies PK — Over/Under: 141
The UCF Knights and UConn Huskies meet Saturday in college basketball action at the XL Center.
The UCF Knights look for another win to build on their five-game winning streak. The UCF Knights are averaging 76.5 points on 48.7 percent shooting and allowing 63.8 points on 38.5 percent shooting. B.J. Taylor is averaging 18 points and 2.7 assists while Aubrey Dawkins is averaging 15.2 points and 5.8 rebounds. Tacko Fall is the third double-digit scorer and Terrell Allen is dishing 4.8 assists. The UCF Knights are shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 62.8 percent from the free throw line. The UCF Knights are allowing 32.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 34.9 rebounds per game. The UCF Knights have lost their only road game this season.
The UConn Huskies need a win here after splitting their last eight games. The UConn Huskies are averaging 80.4 points on 47.1 percent shooting and allowing 71.7 points on 43.6 percent shooting. Jalen Adams is averaging 17.2 points and three assists while Christian Vital is averaging 12.6 points and five rebounds. Alterique Gilbert is the third double-digit scorer and Tarin Smith is dishing 2.4 assists. The UConn Huskies are shooting 35 percent from beyond the arc and 68.3 percent from the free throw line. The UConn Huskies are allowing 31.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 32.4 rebounds per game. The UConn Huskies have won eight of their last nine home games.
The Knights are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Huskies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Knights are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Connecticut and 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The under is 4-1 in Huskies last 5 overall. The over is 5-2 in Knights last 7 road games.
These are two pretty good defenses, so expect a low-scoring tight game. The difference for me is that UConn has won six of the last seven meetings against UCF and is outscoring teams by 19.1 points while shooting 49.8 percent from the field. UConn is also due for a big victory this season, as the first year under its new coach hasn't gone to plan so far. I'll take UConn in this pick em contest due to a better offense in what should be a defensive bloodbath.
