The #24 Creighton Bluejays look to move up the college basketball polls with a win versus the Providence Friars.
The Providence Friars are shooting for win number eleven on the year and a 2-0 start in the Big East after thrashing the St. John’s Red Storm 94-72 behind a 53-32 second half run that broke open a one point game. Providence fired away at 54.7% and allowed 43.8% which was decisive.
The explosive Providence offence received a game high 21 points, 15 assists and four steals from Kyron Cartwright on 8-11 from the floor including 5-7 on threes while Rodney Bullock netted 20 points on 8-11 accuracy. Jalen Lindsey gave the Friars another 18 points on 6-10 from distance followed by a 16 point, 12 rebound effort from Alpha Diallo.
The Creighton Bluejays rolled in to their Big East opener on a five game winning streak before Seton Hall ended the good times with a 90-84 decision. Creighton squandered an eleven point lead at the half with the Pirates holding a slight 49.2%-47.9% shooting edge and eleven more makes at the stripe.
The Bluejays offense rode the production of Martin Krampelj with his 23 points and ten rebounds on 11-16 from the floor with Marcus Foster adding 14 points, five pulls and three assists on 7-15 shooting. Creighton received 13 points, seven boards and six helpers from Khyri Thomas while Davion Mintz tossed in ten points.
